No matter what you’re looking for, Gibson’s makes bidding easy (and fun!) for all our clients. To ensure that everyone, everywhere is able to bid, we offer the following options, so you can choose what suits you best.

Bidding Options

1. Live

Enjoy the excitement and theatre of a live auction by bidding in the room. Arrive in advance with time to register for a bidding number. Gibson’s auctions are open to the public, with no obligation for the attendees to bid.

To save time you can download and pre-fill a registration form with you.

2. Online

Online bidding allows you to bid in real-time with a live broadcast of the auction on your laptop or smart device. Register at least 24 hours prior to the auction to avoid disappointment. Online bidding through our website incurs a 2% surcharge on successful lots. To avoid this fee, you can register for live, telephone or absentee bidding.

Online Bidding

3. Telephone

An experienced staff member will call you in advance of your first lot and, with your instruction, bid on your behalf at the auction. Telephone Bidding is a complimentary service.

4. Absentee

Simply leave the highest amount you are willing to bid, and Gibson’s will bid up incrementally up to this amount on your behalf, if there are competing bids. If the winning bid is tied, the earliest bid is given precedence. Absentee Bidding is a complimentary service.

Important Notes

All first-time bidders are required to provide a copy of photographic ID prior to bidding approval. Telephone and Absentee bids should be received 24 hours in advance to avoid disappointment. International bidders may be required to provide a deposit that can be later offset against purchases or fully refunded. This is not required for return bidders. By bidding at Gibson’s, you are agreeing to our Terms & Conditions of Sale. If you have any questions, please contact our office.

Gibson's Timed Online Auctions

We also occasionally host online-only sales, referred to as Gibson's Timed Online Auctions. These sales run a little differently. Timed Online Auctions are automated sales that run for a specified window of time. Unlike our other auctions, Timed Online Auctions occur without a live auctioneer.
